The Hemophilia Clinic of Western PA with Vitalant is seeking a Medical Assistant dedicated to making a positive difference. Support our life saving mission by playing a crucial role in assisting nurses and physicians in the performance of clinical procedures and other areas as assigned. As well as facilitating the clinic process including obtaining medical history, vital signs, phlebotomy, and documentation in the EMR all under the direct supervision of the nurse; Assist clinical apheresis nurses with setting up apheresis machines and monitoring patients during procedures as assigned, and demonstrate excellent patient-facing customer service skills.You will serve patients for the Hemophilia Clinic of Western PA, located in downtown Pittsburgh in the Oakland neighborhood. Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:30 PM (on site at the Hemophilia Clinic of Western PA in the Oakland area of downtown Pittsburgh - FREE PARKING)DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs all assigned duties in compliance with internal SOPs and external

regulations.

Assures quality customer service to all customers.

Assist the nurse and physician registering patients, maintain patient records, answer insurance questions, and prepare patient chart.

Directs patient flow, obtain vital signs, performs Phlebotomy, clean and prepare exam rooms, and assist nurse.

Perform quality control on documents, supplies, and equipment.

Maintain and stock medical equipment/supplies using FIFO (first in first out)

principles.Requirements

High School Diploma required.

Basic CPR certification preferred. As well as:

-MA, EMT, nursing assistant or related experience required.

-Phlebotomy experience required.

-Minimum of one year recent work experience in a physician's office or direct patient care clinical setting is preferred.

-Experience with EMR (electronic medical records) is strongly preferred.Skills/Abilities

1. Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and

responsibilities.

2. Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

3. Demonstrates the ability to problem solve.

4. Able to recognize problems and report to appropriate supervisory personnel.

5. Ability to handle routine matters in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
