Part Time Farm Hand for Alpaca and Other Large Animals

Compensation $15/hour

Need a reliable and enthusiastic superstar to join our family farm and help us take care of our animals which include about 45 alpacas, 30 goats, 20 pigs, 100 layer chickens, 15 sheep, 10 rabbits and others. No horses, cows or cattle. All are humanly raised on pasture in a sustainable model.

We are looking for someone to commit long-term, part time for 3 hour/morning Tuesday, Thursday & Saturday.

All of the animals are fed and watered each morning so they can be observed for any problems. Manure is scooped and put into the compost and that area is kept clean. Eggs are collected & washed each morning.

Each group of animals is periodically brought into the barn for herd health that includes weighing each animal, looking them over and helping us with any treatments by keeping the animal calm. Other farmstead chore vary by the season.

Requirements,

be physically fit and able to handle the job, able to lift and carry 50 pounds and not be afraid of dirt and manure

have experience with large farm animals

live within about 15 miles of our farm

be very reliable and trustworthy

have references that can attest that you are reliable and trustworthy

have a willing, positive and caring attitude to do what it takes to care for the animals and get the job done

be very attentive to cleanliness and food safety

be willing to commit to working 1 year minimum

have a clear background check

non-smoker and physically fit
