This is a Direct Hire Authority solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position serves as an Engineering Technician providing drafting services in support of Tobyhanna Army Depot's mission. Responsibilities Utilize practical Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) knowledge in a variety of engineering disciplines such as mechanical and electrical. Provide advice to engineers concerning support capabilities that reduce time-consuming manual activities by accomplishing them using CAE software. Prepare and check final drawings and specifications before submission to supervisor or lead engineer. Coordinate branch designs to be used by other branches at the depot (Manufacturing Cell, Supply Chain, Fabrication Operations) to ensure designs are able to meet the fabricated needs of Tobyhanna Army Depot (Procure, build, test, inspect). Configure and sets-up routes (CAPP-Computer Aided Process Plans) and manufacturing bills of material (BOM) to optimize the supply chain for schedule adherence, material supply, inventory considerations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-10 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Assisting engineers or technicians with drawings and make modifications for variety of engineering projects; (2) Utilizing CAE/CADD software to create models and two-dimensional manufacturing drawings; and (3) Reviewing final drawings and specifications of engineering projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). GS-11 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: (1) Assisting engineers or technicians with drawings and make modifications for variety of engineering projects; (2) Utilizing CAE/CADD software to create models and two-dimensional manufacturing drawings; (3) Reviewing final drawings and specifications of engineering projects; and (4) Performing complex models and drawings and assist subordinates on how to perform them. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-10). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
