Familias Unidas is a family skill-building program for Latino families. Specifically, this program targets Spanish-speaking parents/caregivers of youth ages 12-16. The program involves 8 weekly, 2-hour parent group meetings with approximately 10-12 families, and four individual, one-hour home visits with each family to discuss challenges and ways to apply the information learned in the parent sessions.Familias Unidas is designed to:
Help parents to improve their communication and monitoring of youth
Help parents to develop strong partnerships with their children's schools
Reduce substance misuse and delinquent behaviors in youth
Reduce risky sexual behaviors in youth.We are seeking interested adults to be trained as Familias Unidas facilitators with:
Strong presentation and facilitation skills
Experience working with parents/caregivers and/or youth
Ability to be flexible with individuals and activities
Bilingual Spanish-English
Enthusiasm for family skill building programsThis job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:
