DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe primary objective of this role is to carry out semi-skilled tasks related to the upkeep of State Forest infrastructure and roads within the Sproul State Forest. Additionally, the position involves actively participating in forest fire prevention efforts within the Sproul Forest District.Responsibilities include performing maintenance work on various facilities and roads within the State Forest, ensuring they are in optimal condition for public use and safety. This may involve tasks such as repairing structures, clearing pathways, and maintaining signage to enhance the overall visitor experience.In addition to maintenance duties, the role also requires the individual to be vigilant and proactive in identifying and addressing potential fire hazards within the forest. This involves patrolling designated areas, enforcing fire safety regulations, and responding promptly to any signs of fire to prevent and mitigate potential damage to the forest ecosystem.The successful candidate will play a crucial role in preserving the natural beauty and functionality of the Sproul State Forest by contributing to the upkeep of its facilities and infrastructure, as well as ensuring the safety of visitors and the forest itself through effective fire prevention measures. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

This is a seasonal, full-time position without benefits. The season runs from approximately March until November at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.

Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Tuesday - Thursday), 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM (Friday) with a 30-minute lunch.

Overtime: Voluntary and Mandatory for emergencies (wildland fire and search response).

Travel: Report to headquarters. Then, travel to worksite using provided vehicle.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITYQUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.
