JOB OVERVIEW: Lead Carpenter is responsible for the job/project assigned to them. The Lead Carpenter has accountability over carpenters to direct and complete daily tasks while also training new employees. It is their responsibility to complete a job from start to finish in accordance with the standards this company set forth to the best of his or her ability. The Lead Carpenter must maintain a professional manner in all aspects of the job, including but not limited to, communication with clients, subcontractors, site supervisors, managers, and employees. A successful Lead Carpenter will plan the daily and weekly tasks and the materials needed to be completed in order to stay on schedule. He or she will communicate closely with the Project Manager and Estimator about daily tasks, time sheets, equipment, and materials needed for each day. A successful Lead Carpenter will complete the responsibilities and duties below and more.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
● Complete the job they are assigned to the R3 standards
● Plan each day of work/week with help from the Project Manager.
● Keep track of crew materials everyday (nails, screws, tools, stock materials, etc.)
● Understand how to read building plans, scale drawings, structural letters.
● Assist Project Manager with material take-offs, estimating time for CO etc.
● Problem solve with the materials on hand.
● Understand what the end goal is per job and making the necessary field adjustments.
● Fill out daily logs/lists accurately every day in BuilderTrend.
● Communicate receipts and T&M jobs to Project Manager daily.
● Safety
● Ensure daily safety with equipment, hand tools, power tools, etc.
● Ensure the job site is always safe during and after we leave each day.
● Adheres to all company safety procedures. Informs Project Manager of any accidents, injuries, or problems with equipment or assignments.
● Reports all work related injury’s immediately to Project Manager.
● Training/Management
● Be able to train new employees and set them to the company's high standards.
● Communicates with co-workers and delegates effectively.
● On site management of Sub-Contractors (Plumbers, landscapers, electricians, masons, framers, roofers. Etc.)
● Collaborate with other Lead Carpenters to problem solve.
● Professionalism
● Maintain and enforce a professional atmosphere at every jobsite.
● Maintain a professional manner when communicating with clients,
● Promote a supportive team environment.
● Keep up with the cleanliness of the job site, van, storage unit.
● Responsibility of tools/materials.
● Judgement and Decision Making
● Respect and listen to the Project Manager at all times and work in a collaborative manner.
● Seek guidance and direction in the performance of responsibilities and duties.
● Demonstrate good judgment in examining and resolving problems.
● Respect the confidentiality of company business, customers and other personnel.
● Prioritize and plan ahead, recognize what tools are needed for specific tasks.
● Maintain a positive attitude at all times and project that image to our customers.
● Consistently give guidance, direction, or help when crew members are in need.
Physical Demands: Lead Carpenter may be required to stand or walk over 75% of the time. Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling may be required and lifting up to 100 lbs.
Work Environment: Working in wet or humid conditions may be required. Working near moving mechanical parts. Working in high or precarious places may be required. Fumes and airborne mat be present at worksites. Lead Carpenter may work in outdoor conditions. Loud noises are typical for this job.
