Software Intern - Columbia, MDColumbia, MD, USA Req #554Friday, December 13, 2024ASRC Federal’s Summer Technology Readiness Intern Development Experience (STRIDE) offers undergraduate college students the chance to apply their technological interests and knowledge to exciting real-world missions. We areseeking a Software Developer intern with an interest in software development and knowledge of Java to support our government customer program in Columbia, MD . This role is a temporary, hybrid position. Summary: The position provides support for the open-source software components that are part of NSA's big data environment. The intern will focus on Apache Accumulo, DataWave, Timely and Apache Hadoop sustainment. The support will include both maintenance of the existing open-source software, dependencies, build tooling, and documentation as well as design, development, and testing of new open-source software enhancements. Work location: Hybrid ( required to work onsite in an office environment when necessary ); must live in commutable distance to Columbia, MDSecurity: US Citizenship is required; ability to successful complete a government issued background investigation. ( must have lived continuously in the continental United States for the past three years) Program dates: 10-week summer internship, June 2 – August 8, 2025 Hours: 32 hours per week Education:
Currently enrolled and pursuing abachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or concentration in a technical field.
Must be a junior or senior in college at the time of application submittal.
Key Role :
Provides software design, development and testing as instructed by team lead.
Reviews and analyzes customer requests and provide solutions (code) as required.
Conducts research on solving and overcoming complex problems.
Collaborates with other team members.
Attends weekly standup meetings with customer and briefs progress, challenges and successes.
Basic Qualifications :
Working knowledge of Java and multi-threaded programming
Excellent written and verbal communication.
“Can do” positive attitude.
Ability to commute to Columbia, MD when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications :
Exposure to Apache Accumolo, Hadoop, Zookeeper and DataWave
Understanding of Agile methodologies
