Truck MechanicJob DescriptionAs a Truck Mechanic, you will be responsible for all major repairs, including engine, transmission, accident damage, and rear-end within the transportation truck shop. You will perform all maintenance tasks to ensure a functional and operational transportation fleet.Responsibilities
Perform Truck Mechanic B requirements, including all major preventive maintenance and major component rebuilds.
Read and interpret all shop material.
Perform repairs and maintenance on refrigeration equipment as needed.
Repair major structural damage to trailers and refrigeration systems.
Perform internal repairs on engines and components.
Perform all functions of a Truck Mechanic C, including basic service line functions like checking tire air pressure and changing lights.
Perform minor tune-ups and solve electrical and brake problems.
Conduct compressor preventive maintenance for refrigeration systems.
Repair all tractors (except rebuilds), warehouse equipment, external components, minor trailers, refrigeration systems, and external engines.
Strive to find more efficient ways to perform tasks and seek to reduce costs and improve labor productivity.
Make recommendations for modifications to procedures or processes impacting the work group or distribution center to maximize efficiency, productivity, and reduce costs.
Ensure compliance with company standards in accuracy, safety, and productivity.
Essential Skills
Experience repairing diesel engines, replacing brakes, and replacing tires.
Proficiency in working on trailers and engines for 18-wheelers.
Experience repairing and maintaining refrigeration units on trucks.
Skills in refrigeration, brakes, engine repair, welding, and body repair.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Welding experience is a plus.
Ability to repair bodywork.
Truck Refrigeration is a plus.
Strong Diesel Truck experience

The 2nd shift is as follows: Sun-Thurs 1pm-9:30pm, Mon-Fri 1pm-9:30pm, and Tues-Sat 1pm-9:30pm. New hires will train on the B schedule and may be subject to the C schedule permanently.
