The Opportunity: The Cutting Supervisor will provide oversight and leadership in the Die Cutting department. The Supervisor will ensure the timely production of quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations, proactively manage departmental metrics that impact cost (downtime, make-readies, run speed and waste), and ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures. The Cutting Supervisor will foster a team atmosphere and is responsible for day-to-day management of assigned department.How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and operating or production issues.

Consults with engineering and maintenance personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment to improve production and quality of products.

Identifies, documents, and drives departmental metrics for Productivity, Safety, Quality, Waste, and any other metrics required by the company.

Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures, continually participating in company LEAN manufacturing training and audits.

Identifies with and supports company leadership and company decisions.

Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

Ensures staffing is appropriate to meet workload requirements and productivity standards.

Establish and maintain preventive maintenance plan for department equipment

Investigates malfunction of machines and equipment; determines need for repair and maintenance.

Ensures employees are following safety regulations.

Keeps abreast of new products and developments within the department.

Ensures staffing is appropriate to meet workload requirements and productivity standards.

Conducts on-time performance reviews of supervisors and employees. Ensures direct reports have professional development plans and that those plans are executed in the timeframes specified.

Leads effective shift meetings.

Actively engaging and participating in company Operational Excellence training, projects and audits.

Performs other job duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.

Degree from an accredited college or university preferred but not required.

Must have demonstrated ability to do the jobs he/she is supervising or to quickly gain a working knowledge of those jobs.

Must have the ability to foster teamwork and motivate individual performers.

Must be able to relate effectively with others at all levels of the organization.

Must have knowledge of, or be able to learn quickly, safety rules and procedures, operating, maintenance, and technical policies and procedures.

Must be efficient in basic computer skills.

Must have effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Must have the ability to champion and lead change within the department and facility wide.

Must identify with and support company leadership and decisions.

Must have the ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or scheduled form.

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Must be dependable and reliable.

Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
