DescriptionSAIC is seeking a CAD/Design Engineer to join our team of professionals executing complex system integration efforts for the Navy and United States Marines Corps in Charleston, SC .This work primarily entails getting preliminary design direction from the team of Mechanical and Electrical Engineers and converting that information into 3-Dimensional CAD models and 2-Dimensional drawing data. Relevant work includes creating, updating, and maturing Technical Data Packages. As an integral member of the team, familiarity with ASME standards and military drawing standards is preferred.Responsibilities Include:

Candidate will provide drafting, documentation, and modeling support to complete a variety of small to large complex parts, assemblies, and 2D drawings.

Candidate will be required to create detailed drawings/designs using SOLIDWORKS 3D CAD software and AutoCAD 2D for Technical Data Packages (TDP).

Candidate will create/modify solid models and assemblies and maintain configuration management of engineering drawings.

Candidate must be able to understand and create drawings based on ASME Standards.

Under general supervision, performs a variety of moderately complex tasks and uses tools to include calipers, gage tools, tape measure and other mechanical devices to aid in design, development, verification, and validation of the prototype fabrications.

QualificationsRequired Education and Experience:

Associates degree in related discipline and three (6) years of experience. Will accept experience in lieu of a degree.

Three years (3) years minimum experience in designing with SolidWorks, or similar 3D modeling software.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel).

Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Key Skills/Certifications

Knowledge of ASME Standards, Department of Defense (DoD), and industry documentation standards for Engineering and Design.

Demonstrated knowledge of technical drawing creation and review.

Strong Technical, interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.
