PURPOSE /OBJECTIVE A plotter operator operates and maintains a specialized machine known as a plotter. The plotter is a computer-controlled machine that uses a pen or a cutting tool to draw or cut intricate designs or patterns on various materials such as papers, fabrics, vinyl, and plastics.Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Preparing materials for the plotter operation by loading the materials onto the machine, adjusting the tension and alignment. Setting up the plotter by loading software programs, selecting appropriate tools, and configuring the parameters to achieve precise results. Interpreting and translating design specifications into plotter instructions, including size, color, and printing quality. Operating the plotter, which involves monitoring the process, troubleshooting, and making any necessary adjustments to ensure accuracy, productivity, and quality. Maintaining the plotter and related equipment by cleaning and adjusting parts, replacing ink cartridges, and performing routine maintenance checks. Troubleshooting issues that arise during the plotter operation, including software glitches, mechanical malfunctions, and electrical problems. Keeping accurate records of production activities, including the number of materials processed, time spent, and any issues encountered. Communicating with other team members, including designers, supervisors, and production managers, to ensure that projects are completed on time and meet customer specifications. To become a plotter operator, you will need to have a high school diploma or equivalent, and vocational training in computer-aided design (CAD) or related fields.
