SUMMARY : The mission of the Quality Technician is to support the Plant in the implementation of a solid quality system for the manufacture of Ice Cream products. Support the plant in the identification of quality related issues . Report quality trends to the Organization, while supporting the plant objectives of quality, efficiency, safety, productivity, and customer service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : include the following: (Other duties may be assigned)

Responsible for performing job functions in a manner that promotes a safe work environment, including compliance with confined space, PPE, fall protection, LOTO, and all other safety policies and practices.

Front line member of the Quality team that drives a strong Quality culture throughout the plant .

Ensure consumer safety and satisfaction is being met through routine line and product checks frequently throughout the shift.

Withhold suspect or substandard ingredients . Assist line to determine root cause of the issue and process the DRMR form into a SNCR report in the Quality One system

Report out of standard Finished Product to the QA and Department Leadership team. Investigate with the operations team to determine root causes of the issue and help implement immediate corrective actions to mitigate further holds.

Be able to use all Quality systems such as SAP, PLM, Sample 6, Quality One and all other systems related to work as required . Other Quality systems could be assigned as needed.

Participate in Root Cause Analysis sessions as determined by Quality Defect trends or other Quality related issues. Will help to gather information for investigation purposes for these sessions as directed by Quality FLM and/or Quality Manager.

Thoroughly a udit plants GMP’s, housekeeping, sanitation, glass and hard plastics on the line and product safety as defined by the plant HACCP and quality systems.

Manage instrumentation and calibrations of lab equipment.

Drive growth in the Quality department by leading various improvement projects

Develop SOP’s for QA duties. Cooperates with other management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures, and goals.

Reviews and trouble shoot technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.

Provides analytical support and trouble shooting skills to correct non-conformance and consumer issues.

Completes all product and ingredient testing as outlined by Quality Manager.

Leads plants sensory panels and reports out findings to the leadership team

Perform Micro Analysis and all documentation related to trending

Be able to work in a team environment to ensure all quality goals for the plant are being met.

Lead individual growth project assigned by QA leadership team

Process responsibility for D-incidents (Hold affected product, STO creation, sampling plan, report out)

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S., etc.) or equivalent from four-year college or university preferred ; or one to two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Requires the ability to read and comprehend a variety of simple informational documentation, directions, instructions, methods and procedures, short correspondence and memos. Requires the ability to write simple reports and correspondence with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar . Requires the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group setting to team members, customers and other employees of the organization, using correct English and a well-modulated voice.

NUMERICAL APTITUDE:

Requires the ability to add and subtract totals, multiply and divide in all units of measure (English and Metric), using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals . Must be able to determine percentages and determine time and weight . Must be able to use an electronic calculator.

FORM/SPATIAL APTITUDE:

Requires the ability to inspect items for proper length, width, textures, odor, taste, color and shape.

REASONING ABILITY:

Requires the ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions . Must be able to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

MANUAL DEXTERITY:

Requires the ability to handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have the ability to use one hand for twisting or turning motion while coordinating other hand with different activities. There are occasional requirements to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools and controls and reach with hands and arms. Must have average levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be physically able to climb on ladders and portable stairways. Must be physically able to use wrenches and other tools in performing minor maintenance functions. Constant standing and/or walking on concrete floors are required . Must be able to use body members to work, move, lift, slide, push or carry heavy objects or materials . Must be able to lift up to 50 pound s. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for active work.

PHYSICAL COMMUNICATION:

Must have the ability to talk (expressing and/or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words) and/or hear (perceiving sounds of nature by ear.) Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed throughout the facility . Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, noise, or heavy lifting . The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time . PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection and sanitary footwear.
