Summary Integrates medical technology concepts, principles and techniques with computer skills to develop and monitor programs which accurately record, report, and preserve patient data. Plans, organizes, and directs day-to-day activities of the Laboratory Information Systems (L.I.S.) and coordinates these activities in cooperation with the Laboratory Director and Manager. Assures efficient and effective general management of the L.I.S. by appropriate resource utilization, using appropriate assessment techniques, taking corrective action, and providing essential education and training for personnel; assists in the operation of the Laboratory by using total quality management and performance and process improvements; assures effective L.I.S. financial management by adhering to budgetary goals/plans and purchasing policies. This position is under the direct supervision of the Director of Laboratory Services. Incumbent is under the administrative direction of the Director of Laboratory Services, and works in conjunction with Laboratory Managers and is responsible for 1 shift, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week or otherwise scheduled hours including call back as required. This position assists with LIS operations throughout BMG and must be able to effectively monitor and appropriately coordinate for 60+ locations. This includes informatics and technical setups for locations with labs as well as coordination of samples sent from clinics without a on-site lab to an appropriate reference lab. Responsibilities 1.Integrates medical technology concepts, principles and techniques with computer skills to develop and monitor programs which accurately record, report, and preserve patient date.2.Plans, organizes, and directs day-to-day activities of the Laboratory Information Systems (L.I.S.) and coordinates these activities in cooperation with Lab Director and Lab Managers.3.Provides essential orientation, education and training for personnel for Laboratory Information System.4.Assures effective L.I.S. financial management through monitoring of charge system, assisting in investigation of billing issues, and adhering to budgetary goals/plans and purchasing policies.5.Provides leadership through communicating the BMH vision/values, coaching, monitoring, counseling, and support of departmental policies and goals.6.Works, as need, as a Medical Technician to assure timely, accurate, and appropriate performance of testing and reporting of results by resolving technical problems efficiently and effectively to ensure quality patient outcomes7.Assures Laboratory Information System Policies and Procedures are in compliance with hospital and regulatory agencies (CLIA, COLA, JCAHO, FDA, etc.) to maintain quality outcomes.8.Performs related accountabilities/responsibilities as required or directed.Requirements, Preferences and ExperienceEducationA.Completion of an AMA approved program for Medical Technology or Medical Technician or B.Medical Technologist or Medical Technician CertificationC.BS in IT or health related field ExperienceMinimum: Three years of clinical laboratory experience required.Preferred: Three years of laboratory information systems experience preferred.
