Overview: Founded in 2018, Paperhouse Publishing LLC is the publisher of Memphis Current, Memphis’ premiere arts and culture magazine, which serves as a glossy guide to some of the city’s most prominent artists, musicians, restaurants and businesses. We are solely focused on elevating Memphis culture and only work and advertise with locally owned or operated individuals and businesses. Along with the quarterly publication, Paperhouse Publishing LLC. also hosts recurring events, offers brand consultation and marketing services, and operates CURRENT, a gallery, studio and retail location in the heart of midtown.

Who we are looking for: Ideal candidates will have a professional demeanor, an interest in arts and culture, an entrepreneurial mindset and a passion for making Memphis a better place to live, work and create in. Since this position is rooted in sales, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, eager, outgoing and comfortable with meeting new people and talking with them.

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Meet with local business owners to conduct a low-pressure consultative meeting to determine if a partnership with our publication or other properties is mutually beneficial for both entities.
  • Develop meaningful relationships within the community.
  • Occasionally work with other staff members to imagine and host events throughout the year to further the relationships between local businesses and our readership.

In this position the majority of your work week will be up to you. Aside from weekly staff meetings, you make your own schedule. Choose whether to work from home or from the office. While we want a candidate who will bring a drive and strong work ethic to the organization, we also want our staff to have a comfortable work-life balance.   • Uncapped Commissions

As a sales-based role, the primary source of compensation is through commission based sales. We encourage our staff to take advantage of an uncapped commission structure that allows you to grow your income over time.

Responsibilities

  • Present, promote and sell products/services to existing and prospective customers
  • Perform cost-­benefit and needs analysis of existing/potential customers to meet their needs
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships
  • Reach out to potential customers and clients through research-based leads.
  • Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within schedule
  • Coordinate sales effort with team members and other departments
  • Analyze the territory/market’s potential, track sales and status reports
  • Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
  • Keep abreast of best practices and promotional trends

Skills

  • Proven work experience as a sales representative (Not required but encouraged)
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Basic knowledge of arts and entertainment.
  • Highly motivated and target driven
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Prioritizing, time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to create and deliver presentations tailored to the audience needs
  • Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
