L3Harris. at http://www.l3harris.com/ com at http://www.l3harris.com/Job Purpose:At L3Harris ForceX, a Technical Editor / Writer writes, publishes, and distributes vital technical documents, including user manuals, workbooks, reference guides, and release notes for software applications/hardware.The objective of the Writer is to participate in all Software Design Life Cycle meetings and events with the assigned program team to create and maintain documentation as required by active release efforts and associated deadlines.Interns will shadow Technical Editor / Writers at ForceX while working with a team of Developers and fellow Interns for a software engineering project defined at the beginning of the internship.In addition, Interns will also work together to create a project or volunteer opportunity with proceeds contributing to a non-profit.Job Summary
Create and maintain documentation for assigned Intern program team
Produce user manuals, workbooks, reference guides, and release notes
Maintain a record of all corrections and revisions to documentation
Participate in a fast-paced agile software environment
Create innovative solutions to unique and challenging costumer problems
Be part of a team working on cutting-edge solutions to defense-based problems
Professionally communicate with all levels of the organization
Be trained and mentored from some of the best software engineers in Nashville, TN
Job Knowledge, Skillsand Abilities
Must be enrolled in a BS or MS program working towardsa Business Management, Business Communication, TechnicalWriting/Communications, Information Systems, Engineering, (or related degree)and have a GPA of at least 3.0
Must be enrolled in a degree-seeking program within anaccredited college or university
Ability to learn new concepts and tools quickly
Strong editing skills as well as attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-orientedenvironment
Exemplary written and oral communication skills
US Citizenship is required
Physical Demands:
Required to sit for long periods of time
Infrequent light physical effort required
Written and verbal communication
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computerkeyboard and mouse
May require the ability to travel via automobile orairplane
