SENIOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF ROLE

Assist in management and completion of day-to-day activities, involving the maintenance of the plant, equipment and machinery, buildings, lighting systems, etc. Support coordination of Maintenance employees’ daily responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership Support

o Act as a leader and role model for Employee Engagement

o Act as Team Leader when the Maintenance & Project Program Manager is unavailable (ex. Lead Team Meetings, Plan work schedules, etc.)

o Assist with the tracking and reporting of personnel time

o Assist with training and development of Maintenance personnel

o Assist with evaluation of skill level and performance of employees on a regular basis

Daily Maintenance Activities

o Install and maintain production machines and plant equipment

o Coordinate & perform emergency/ unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production

o Perform scheduled repairs of maintenance equipment

o Ensure that the appropriate equipment, parts, and materials are maintained in stock and that they have been procured in the most cost-effective manner available.

o Assist with vendor/ contractor relationships by obtaining cost quotes and scheduling on-site work as needed.

o Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas utilizing 5S methodology to ensure sustainability.

Preventive Maintenance Activities

o Support development and maintenance of preventive maintenance program for applicable equipment and machinery including, but not limited to, scheduling of PM and ordering required supplies

o Perform preventive maintenance activities as part of regular routine.

Technical Expertise

o Obtain and continually refresh personal knowledge of all plant equipment, buildings, blue prints, pipelines, etc.

o Perform skilled maintenance/ mechanical tasks

o Diagnose and trouble-shoot problems to develop solutions

Interact positively with visitors to the plant including visitors to the tour program, corporate visitors, and VIPs.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Adheres to and promotes quality, environmental, health and safety as one of the organization’s business priorities.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

· High School/Trade School diploma required.

· Previous supervisory experience desirable.

· Requires a minimum of 6 years related experience.

· Demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge and repair abilities.

· Computer literate.

· Ability to interface with all types of mechanical, electrical, and construction contractors.

· Knowledgeable of construction and building maintenance.

· Successful completion of an accredited management training program a plus.

· Project Management – ability to break projects and initiatives into actionable steps, assign responsibility and follow-up to ensure their timely completion; show informal leadership to ensure delegated tasks are completed; sense of urgency to ensure set timelines are maintained; ability to identify when plans are at risk and take action or escalate accordingly in order to contain or correct any issue.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

· Work day will involve activities that vary throughout the day and will be both in an office environment, as well as in a manufacturing facility.

· Occasional exposure to excessive heat & humidity, intermittent to constant noise, vibration, dust and slippery or uneven walking surfaces

· Occasional lifting or moving heavy materials in difficult work positions.

Must be willing and able to work long and irregular hours at times
