The successful candidate for this position will have the opportunity to join UTA during an exciting period of growth and contribute as the university broadens its impact.Job Summary The Business Analyst I for the Office of Information Technology ( OIT ) provides procedural guidance, process improvement recommendations, business requirements planning, application testing, and less complex reporting requests from user departments. This work will be reviewed and approved by more experienced Business Analysts in the department. The Business Analyst I will also perform analysis on workflow efficiencies, for all software applications used by departments they support. These duties may be limited to smaller/medium sized projects as well as reviewed/approved by BA-II, and/or Senior Business Analysts.Essential Duties and Responsibilities The Office of Information Technology at UT Arlington provides premier support and solutions to our Maverick Community. We are a team of highly skilled professionals who approach our work with pride, respect, and a shared purpose.

Work with associated business areas to resolve exceptions preventing normal business operations as they relate to software applications and business procedures.

Perform less complex problem/root cause analysis of business processes and troubleshooting for user departments.

Develop business process documentation and configuration guides.

Develop less complicated reports using database queries and associated reporting software.

Act as a liaison on behalf of Office of Information ( OIT ) and departments for technology related communications and meetings with technical staff/vendors as needed.

Identify and develop practices and business processes as requested by business areas or more experienced Business Analysts.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, Math, or Economics with two to three (2-3) years related experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Some experience working with business users, and technical staff to complete projects, change requests, identifying and analyzing business process models for departments, documenting current/to-be business processes, building test scripts and testing with departments.

Familiarity using 4th generation reporting/visualization tools, MS-Office, Visio, and working with database technologies Oracle, Sql-Server, or Access.

Three to four (3-4) years experience or the equivalent.

Experience Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, Teams, and SharePoint.

Knowledge working with Agile Scrum Methodology for projects.

Any experience working with talent management solutions, time & labor products, or other financial technologies and services.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience working with any combination of software applications related to PeopleSoft Finance, HR, Grants, Procurement, G/L, Leave management, Time and labor, Recruiting, Student Information, and Reporting Applications.

Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.)

Some exposure to SQL statements, Oracle/Sql databases, using 4th generation reporting software.

Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and documentation skills would be most helpful for this position.
