Core work hours: Monday-Friday 8:00a – 5:00p Position Summary Reports to the Texas Health Resources (THR) Deputy Chief of Police or to a Regional Captain depending on assignment. Responsible for the leadership and management of police and uniformed security officers, as well as non-sworn staff supporting the organization, to establish a robust physical security posture while maintaining a welcoming environment for THR patients, visitors, and staff. Assists with planning, designing, implementing, and monitoring Texas Health Enterprise-wide physical security policies, procedures, training, and programs in compliance with state of Texas and local regulations. Collaborates closely with the Security Directors and Entity Security Managers for hospitals in the region, the entity leadership teams, and the other Security Directors and Program Managers throughout the Police and Security organization. Works in coordination with the organization's Security Directors and with channel leadership, including at THPG clinics, Breeze urgent care, System Services, and for organizations delivering healthcare services in the community and at patients' homes, to ensure the effective delivery of police and uniformed security services.

Ensures the appropriate shift or staff coverage for the area of responsibility. Coordinates, manages, directs, and guides the staff in performing tasks and delivering services that support the organization's mission. Prepares concise, thorough, and timely written reports.Assists in the selection, and leads, supervises, motivates, develops, trains, and schedules staff. Ensures that assigned employees receive opportunities to further their knowledge. Appraises the performance of staff.Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact or govern the organization. Promotes growth and advancement of the organization through exemplary service excellence (utilizing effectively, results of the Support Services Customer Satisfaction Survey).EducationH.S. Diploma or Equivalent RequiredOrBachelor's Degree Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Security or closely related field. Must complete a personal history statement and psychological evaluation. May be subject to further written and/or oral pre-assignment testing/training. Must be able to follow, practice and utilize the Peace Officer Weapons Standard and Qualification General Order to ensure the safety of officers, hospital staff, patients and visitors. Must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of customer-based Peace Officer management techniques. Must be able to deal with the public and fellow employees in a tactful and diplomatic manner. Must be able to make sound judgments. Must be able to testify in court to present case facts.

Pursuant to TCOLE Declaration of Medical Condition, Commission Rule 215.15 (c), 217.1 (a), 217.7 (e) new license applicants must complete both a physical exam and drug screen.

Must possess the ability to physically defend and/or restrain people.

Must possess the ability to communicate with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner on the phone and in person using the English language, and the demonstrated use of good verbal communication skills.

Must possess the ability to interact effectively with peers, executive and medical staff, department heads and staff in other departments, patients/families, vendors and other customers in a manner that represents Texas Health Resources positively.

Must be able to demonstrate effective management skills and techniques.

Must have good oral and written communication skills.

Must be familiar with hospital security regulatory agency standards.

Must be able to evaluate security systems and procedures.

Must be process oriented and have good organizational skills.

Must possess the ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve non-routine issues and problems.

Must possess the ability to maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.

Must possess the ability to learn and apply new information, knowledge, and experiences in a timely manner.

Requires special protective equipment, training, and adherence to prescribed rules and procedures.

Must possess ability to use a computer and electronic equipment.

Must possess high levels of attention to details.

Must possess visual and mental concentration on instruments, dials, readouts, displays, etc.

Must possess the ability to observe and rapidly react to changing situations and operations.

Must possess precise hand-eye coordination and fine motor dexterity.

Must possess the ability to continuously stand, walk, or move around the workplace.

Must maintain annual weapons qualifications

Must be willing and able to travel to other Texas Health Resources locations, external offices, and outpatient clinics as needed.
