Hourly Rate: $88 W2; $101 CTC/1099 Job Description: Supports the installation of database software and migrations to new data management system software levels, and tests the migrations to ensure data reliability and functionality. Analyzes, designs, modifies, and maintains database structures. Designs and implements procedures necessary to save, retrieve, and recover databases from hardware and software failures. Establishes and implements database security controls and user access levels. Evaluates and recommends database software packages for potential acquisition. Prepares and develops database documentation, procedures, and definitions for data dictionaries. Performs logical and physical data modeling, designs relational database models, and creates physical data models from logical data models. Performs database performance monitoring and implements efficiency improvements. Assists in modifying existing databases and database management systems. Assists in developing standards, guidelines, policies, and procedures designed to ensure the integrity of the database environment . All work products resulting from the project shall be considered "works made for hire" and are the property of the HHSC. HHSC may include pre-selection requirements that potential Vendors (and their Workers) submit to and satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by the Texas law. HHSC will pay no fees for interviews or discussions, which occur during the process of selecting a Worker(s). EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1) Undergraduate degree required in math, computer science, engineering, or related discipline with an information technology focus (preferred). 2) Advanced degree in MIS or Computer Science preferred. Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of database management systems, as well as data warehouse management and decision support tools (5 years)
- Extensive experience in the development, implementation and maintenance of data warehouses and data marts is desired (5 years)
- Experience in business objects and in building the data dictionary (5 years)
- Ability to use data base access tools for application delivery (5 years)
- Strong familiarity with analysis, planning and management reporting functions (5 years)
- Well-developed oral and written communications skills (5 years)
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills (5 years)
- Extremely high level of analytical ability where problems are very unusual and extremely difficult (5 years)
- Understanding of benchmarking processes and techniques (5 years)
- Very high level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees, and elicit work output(5 years)
- Data Warehousing data population and data modeling techniques for target structures such as Star Schemas, Snowflake Schemas, and highly normalized data models (5 years)
- GUI based ETL tools such as Informatica, IBM WebSphere DataStage, or similar tools. (5 years)
- Implementation experience with enterprise class databases e.g. Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server, etc. or similar technologies. (5 years)
- Implementation experience with analytical and reporting tools e.g. Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, MicroStrategy or similar tools. (5 years)
- Experience with data warehouse implementation process, from business requirements through logical modeling, physical database design, data sourcing and data transformation, data loading. (5 years)
- Structured Query Language (SQL), end-user tools, database and SQL performance tuning. (5 years)
- Implementation experience with analytical and reporting tools e.g. Business Objects, Cognos, Hyperion, MicroStrategy or similar tools. (5 years)
- Excellent analytical; problem-solving; team playing; and oral and written communication skills. (5 years)
- Proven ability to work successfully with technical and non-technical groups and manage multiple responsibilities. (5 years)
- Oracle Database experience (5 years)
- SSRS report creation (5 years)
