The Dispatcher position ensures the optimal assignment of personnel, equipment, and trucks to meet daily operational requirements for TDS. This role plays a central part in maintaining daily workloads by monitoring route progress, re-routing or splitting routes, and resolving driver and customer concerns as they arise. The Dispatcher collaborates closely with Operations, Customer Care, Sales, and affiliate partners to support service delivery and maintain high operational standards.
High school diploma or equivalent
At least two years of customer service and/or waste industry experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to use common office equipment – i.e. phones, radio systems, desk top computers
Proficiency with using internet mapping programs
Must have basic math skills
Ability to achieve proficiency with all data management software and applications utilized for dispatch processes within the first six months
Ability to effectively and fluently communicate in English in both written and verbal form
Ability to achieve proficiency with routing software used by TDS dispatchers, within the first six months
Ability to effectively and fluently communicate in English in both written and verbal form
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format
Problem-solving ability
Knowledge of safety practices, accident management and commercial driver’s license regulations
Ability to achieve proficiency with TDS locations and service areas in each line of business within the first six months
Industry or trucking knowledge and or experience
Dispatching experience
