Job Title: Part-Time Day Porter – Preschool
Location: Austin, Texas 78756
Position Type: Part-Time
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Compensation: $15 Per hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a responsible, reliable, and detail-oriented Day Porter to join our team at a preschool. The Day Porter plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment for young children and staff throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine cleaning and sanitizing of classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, kitchen and common areas
Monitor and restock supplies (soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc.)
Assist with minor maintenance tasks and report major issues to the supervisor
Support staff with immediate cleanup needs (e.g., spills, accidents)
Empty trash and recycling throughout the day
Ensure outdoor play areas are tidy and safe and use of power washer to clean tables 2 to 3x a week
Follow all health and safety protocols, especially those related to childcare environments
Respond promptly to requests from staff regarding cleanliness and safety
Power wash outside area on eating tables (2-3x per week or as needed)
High Traffic areas are to be continuously monitored and picked up throughout the day for removal of litter
Event preparation and takedown (organizing classrooms/gym/outside area for events 2-3 day’s events per week)
Follow Day Porter Scope of work provided upon employment (as needed or assigned)
Qualifications:
Prior janitorial or custodial experience preferred
Must be dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and walking for extended periods
Friendly and professional demeanor
Must pass background check and meet any state/local requirements for working in a childcare facility
