The mission of Meals on Wheels Central Texas is to deliver care that empowers our neighbors by promoting dignity and independence. Meals on Wheels Central Texas is currently celebrating 51 years of delivering a nutritious meal to our homebound and elderly community in Central Austin. We are expanding our staff, and we have immediate openings for part-time drivers to join our team.
Meals on Wheels Central Texas is hiring a part-time Paid Backup Driver to deliver meals to our clients and assist the Volunteer Services and Distribution teams. This position will either deliver meals to clients or be on standby to deliver as directed by Volunteer Services staff. Meals are to be delivered in a safe and timely manner. Paid Backup Drivers deliver routes that need coverage due to volunteer cancellations, late cancellations and no-shows. This position also serves as a substitute meal manager if needed. We are looking for a friendly, outgoing person who will help promote our mission to nourish and enrich the lives of the homebound and other people in need through programs that promote dignity and independent living.
Position is M-F everyday with typical hours being 10am-1:30pm.
Skills/ Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Current Texas driver’s license, automobile insurance, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
Dependable attendance
Good math skills
Ability to follow directions and read maps
Ability to operate a smartphone for clocking in/out, communications with main office, and utilization of navigation application.
Ability to lift 30 pounds.
