MD Anderson Cancer Center has a Sr. Food Service Worker opening in the Texas Medical Center. This position will provide a variety of basic food service tasks including cleaning, sanitation, food preparation, food set up and food service. The hours for this position will vary and will have a rotating schedule with weekends/holidays, which will allow for a good work life balance.The shift will be 6am -230pm, with rotating weekends and holidays required. May be moved to new locations and/or shifts as operations dictate. Cross training may also involve shift changes.Dining Services offers eight unique dining venues spread across the Texas Medical Center, an exceptional on-sight catering department, and two coffee bars located in The Woodlands and West Houston. Our mission also includes education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.KEY FUNCTIONS:Portion Control:Provide consistent and good quality service to cafe customers by adhering to the established portion sizes for each food item, and following written recipes. Portion, measure or weigh ingredients and products according to the recipe or diagram and prepare food in a timely manner. Ensure all food items served in the Deli and Grill areas are 100% correct.Customer Service:Visually monitor daily zone area activities to ensure prompt and courteous service to all customers. Maintain a good work rapport with other department personnel. Promote/provide good guest relation skills by following the written established cafe guidelines. Attend meetings in food service related activities to increase competency and knowledge. Train and direct the work of food service workers assigned to unit.Inventory Management/Sanitation and Safety:Ensure assigned area is stocked with all food, china, and paper/plastic supplies. Participate in inventory control, cost containment and storage of supplies. Receive food deliveries and properly store items. Review and fill unit orders informing the supervisor of any unusual quantities ordered. Submit to the Asst Mgr a written list of items needed from the production and storeroom areas. Monitor the stock of all open and unused food items. Adhere to proper food storage procedures. Ensure zones and stations are properly prepared in a neat and orderly manner. Safely operate food equipment. Deliver food at the proper temperatures to the designated areas. Clean and sanitize equipment and work area, utensils and equipment.
