MISSION STATEMENTThe mission of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the publicSUMMARYThe primary focus of the Krebs Laboratory is the development and preclinical evaluation of imaging and radiotheranostic agents in conjunction with cellular engineering. Our operation spans from bench to bedside, including researchers performing basic chemistry, cellular biology and animal research. The candidate will be expected to work in a highly interdisciplinary research environment with scientists and clinicians throughout MDACC and from partner institutions. The successful candidate should have expertise in either tumor immunology, molecular biology, bioengineering, and/or radiochemistry, molecular imaging and radiotherapy. They should also have a high level of motivation to immerse themselves in a high level collaborative and interdisciplinary environment, bridging the boundaries between various disciplines.ResearchPlans, organizes, coordinates and participates in scientific research projects. Selects and manages laboratory personnel. Reviews and evaluates research activity of laboratory and research personnel. Determines specific goals or objectives to be obtained, evaluates research data and develops and revises techniques or approaches to work problems. Functions in a separate and independent manner in the design and initiation of research experiments. Designs, develops or adapts techniques used in experiments or research to obtain desired results. Responsible for laboratory equipment, cell culture techniques, mouse models and implementing safety procedures. Presents findings of research projects to professional groups and prepares scientific documents for publication.AdministrativeWork effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, including with immunologists, clinicians, and biologists. Utilize written and oral communication to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Mentor junior scientists, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students in machine learning and computational research.REQUIREMENTSEducation Required: Masters degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.Preferred Education: PhD in one of the natural sciences or related field.Certification: NonePreferred Certification: NoneExperience: Four years of research experience in machine learning, data science.
