Schedule: 6:00 AM – 4:30 PM Mon-Fri (Some Sat.)
Starting pay: $23 - $25/hr. DOE

A prep (preparation) technician in collision repair is a specialist who prepares vehicles for painting by performing tasks like sanding, masking, and priming the damaged body panels. They ensure the surface is smooth, clean, and free of imperfections to achieve a high-quality, professional finish for the painter.
Key Responsibilities
Sanding: Using both hand and power tools to sand the vehicle's surface to remove imperfections and create a smooth base for primer or paint.
Masking: Covering areas that should not be painted with masking tape and paper, requiring attention to detail to prevent paint from getting on them.
Priming: Applying primer to prepared areas to provide a uniform surface and help the topcoat adhere properly.
Cleaning: Thoroughly cleaning the vehicle and the work area to remove dirt, dust, and debris that could interfere with the paint application.
Minor repairs: Performing filler work on small dents and other minor body damage.
Disassembly/Reassembly: Removing and reattaching parts like trim, upholstery, and damaged panels as needed for the repair process.
Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License
High School Diploma or GED
ASE Certifications in auto body repair, painting, or estimating a strong plus.
Painting and Refinishing Certification for Collision Repair a plus.
Structural Analysis and Damage Repair Certification for Collision Repair a plus.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
