We want your knowledge and expertise!Job Summary and QualificationsThe Lead Cardiac Technician has the responsibility of supporting the mission of the hospital to be the most comprehensive, cost effective provider of quality healthcare services for the Northeast Houston Area. The Technician is assigned to the Operating Room to assist physicians with instruments during the surgical procedure. This position has the responsibility of supporting the mission of the hospital which is to provide patients with the highest quality of health care within an atmosphere of genuine caring. The Technician is responsible for the preparation of room and needed supplies and equipment for assigned cases and is responsible for all instruments and insuring needed counts are completed. Employee will be responsible for knowledge and skill necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, educational, safety and related criteria for the infant/child, neonate, adolescent, adult and geriatric population.What you will do in this role:

Supports the philosophy of Kingwood Medical Center by facilitating cooperation of hospital staff in a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.

Consistently provides outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees, and guests.

Displays initiative to see processes through to completion and offers assistance without being asked.

Maintains awareness of own limitations and seeks guidance from appropriate personnel as needed.

Prioritizes activities of self based on demands for service.

Remains alert to the detection of errors in own work and the work of others with appropriate corrective actions initiated.

Demonstrates an understanding of patient rights, including those pertaining to confidentiality, informed decision-making, and privacy.

Is aware of resources available for ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals.

Practices cost-efficiently.

Performs technical skills proficiently in accordance with established standards, as evidenced by annual validation processes.

Utilizes specialized knowledge and skill to perform job requirements.

Demonstrates appropriate skills for assigned area/task.

Familiarizes self with the appropriate procedure before beginning the case.

Assists in emergency situations.

Ensures that all pertinent data is communicated to the Circulating Nurse and the physician.

Identifies the needed supplies and prepares room for the patient and the procedure.

Demonstrates flexibility and adapts to changes caused by emergencies, schedule or staffing adjustments, procedural changes, or patient care needs. Takes call as assigned to ensure 24 hour, 7 day per week OR coverage; is readily accessible when called in.

Provides skillful, thorough, organized, and safe nursing care to assigned patients. Demonstrates skill in performing nursing techniques such as preparation for Surgery procedures, good sterile technique, proper positioning, etc.

Demonstrates appropriate technical skills for the area.

Anticipates any special supplies and equipment needs and sees that they are set up and ready prior to all surgical cases. Keeps rooms well stocked with supplies.

Handles instruments correctly and anticipates surgeons needs for instruments, sutures, and other items during the surgical procedure.

Ensures work place is neat and clean.

Maintains a professional appearance.

Has a reliable attendance record and is punctual.

What qualifications you will need:

Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Registered Radiographer (ARRT), or Associate Degree, or Vocational School Graduate must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date

Formal training from an operating technician school or equivalent in hospital training course.
