JOB SUMMARY:

Painter includes competency to perform operations for the movement, preparation, and documentation related to Key Paint Area operations. Operations include grit blast, surface preparation, masking, and application of coatings for both CARC and Commercial coatings.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Maintains work area in an orderly and safe manner.

Uses Standard Work Instructions, diagrams, photographs and verbal instructions to perform required tasks.

Performs painting preparation processes and procedures to assure a quality paint application.

Operates basic manufacturing computer hardware and software to document tasks as required.

Works with Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing Supervision, Production Control and others to maintain work instructions and other manufacturing documentation as directed.

Be available to support production outside of normal operating hours.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Basic data entry skills to complete necessary documentation related to work completion.

Ability to operate forklifts and other material moving equipment to move/position products for blast and paint.

Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Troubleshooting and reaching solutions for problems using all available tools is expected.

The Painter position requires the ability to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday. Employees must be capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, and reaching for extended periods of time. The role frequently involves repetitive motions of the hands, arms, and shoulders while brushing, rolling, or spraying surfaces. The ability to climb ladders, work from scaffolding, lifts, or elevated platforms, and maintain balance at heights is required.

The Painter must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment, typically weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Visual acuity is necessary to distinguish colors, surface defects, and coating thickness, along with sufficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to apply coatings accurately. The position may also require wearing respirators and other PPE for extended periods, as well as tolerating exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and work conditions common to industrial and commercial job sites.
