EO/AAThis position is responsible for performing radiographic procedures involving the application of ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. Performs radiographic procedures. Critiques images to maintain quality control.

Selects film, adjusts and programs a variety of film changes, including cinefluorography, and may process cassettes.

Maintains the necessary precautions to prevent excessive exposure to radiation.

Assesses patient vital signs and condition when indicated during exams.

Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.

Prepares, cleans and stocks rooms with supplies and linens.

Performs limited radiological exams based on guidelines set by the Department of Radiology.

May assist in orienting new employees or students regarding functions of the department.

May participate on department and hospital committees, and provide in-service training to hospital staff.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge of radiation safety, basic patient care, QA/QC of images, and use of x-ray equipment.

Ability to work under the supervision of a radiologist or radiology practitioner.

Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills are also required.

Ability to report equipment failure to appropriate department personnel for immediate attention or serviced by an equipment technician.

Demonstrated authority to utilize their own discretion in selecting proper cassette size, exposure factors and the ability to correct exposure problems.

Ability to balance and prioritize the work load requirements of the day while maintaining the needs of the department and providing flexibility to assist physicians in completing examinations.

QualificationsQualifications Licenses Required

Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Practical Technologist in the State of Utah.
