At Grow Compost of Vermont, we’re passionate about our community – our farms, our neighbors, and the natural world. We work closely with local farms to transform food scraps, and other nutrient-rich, organic material into rich, fertile soil for the growth of verdant space, the production of clean energy, and the health and well-being of the earth. With a staff of 10 and 6 trucks we serve 400 compost pick-up customers, both residential and commercial. We’re growing fast as a result of Vermont’s new compost law!
We’re seeking a home-based bookkeeper for payables, receivables, banking, payroll, and customer service 20 hours per week. Must be experienced in Quickbooks Online. With regular contact via phone and video conversations, you’ll work closely with our staff from your remote office. You’ll come to the office in Waterbury, Vermont once a week to pick up the mail and do bank deposits.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handle payables and receivables
- Invoicing is done through our routing and dispatch software; balances are exported to QBO
- Receive customer payments and make bank deposits
- Process payroll via our payroll service
- Enter transactions into QuickBooks and reconcile accounts
- Work with our Sales Manager to set up new customer accounts
- Perform other duties as needed
REQUIREMENTS
- 2 or more years of Quickbooks Online experience
- Must be able to both work independently and enjoy working as part of a team
- Must be able to travel to Waterbury to pick up mail and paperwork, and make bank deposits at Northfield - Savings Bank
- Friendly, easygoing, and able to flex with changing conditions and workflows as the business grows

- Well-organized

HOURS & BENEFITS
- This position is 20 hours per week
- The hours are flexible
- You’ll get 20 hours of sick time per year
- This is a work-from-home remote position
- $15 - $18 per hour, based on skills and experience
