Job Summary:

The Physical Education (PE) Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in physical education. The teacher will foster a positive learning environment that promotes physical activity, healthy lifestyles, and overall well-being for students.

This position has modified hours (9:00-4:30), which includes leading after-school activities 2 days/week.

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Curriculum Development

Design and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum aligned with state and national standards.

Develop age-appropriate lessons emphasizing physical fitness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and lifelong healthy habits.

Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.

Classroom & Behavior Management

Create a safe and inclusive environment where all students feel encouraged to participate.

Establish and enforce rules, routines, and expectations for respectful and active engagement.

Manage and maintain PE equipment and classroom materials.

Assessment & Student Progress

Monitor and assess student progress using formative and summative assessments.

Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress with parents/guardians.

Use data to inform instruction and support student growth.

Collaboration & Professional Development

Work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to enhance student learning.

Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in PE and health education.

Engage in school-wide initiatives and extracurricular activities as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

Organize and oversee physical fitness activities, school-wide wellness events, and sports-related programs.

Advocate for students' physical and mental well-being.

Ensure compliance with school policies and safety regulations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.

Valid state teaching certification/license in PE and/or Health Education.

Candidates with a bachelor's degree and relevant experience will also be considered.

Experience working with elementary/middle/high school students (as applicable).

Strong classroom management and communication skills.

Ability to foster a positive and active learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with adaptive physical education or special education inclusion.

CPR, First Aid, and coaching certifications.

Knowledge of social-emotional learning (SEL) and trauma-informed practices.
