An executive role that provides strategic vision and/or tactical/strategic direction across multiple teams with the majority of time spent on overseeing area of responsibility and directing the responsibilities of employees. Goal achievement is typically accomplished through performance of direct and/or indirect reports. An entity function head or enterprise sub-function head role accountable to establish and implement strategies that have short to mid-term (1-3 years) impact on business results in alignment with organization or function objectives. Leads multiple teams of lower-level executives, directors/senior managers and managers and develops short to mid-term (1-3 years) plans for optimizing the organization, function or sub-function and the talent required to execute strategies in job area.Job OverviewThe SVP, Operations Finance is a key leader on Tufts Medicine finance team, and will report directly to the Tufts Medicine CFO to lead and improve the financial operations of Tufts Medicine to become an integrated and frictionless health system. Under the direction of the CFO, this position is responsible for providing financial and operational leadership and management oversight of the financial and business activities for Tufts Medicine. Responsibilities include long-term strategic planning, determining the policies of the organization, and allocating its resources and making decisions regarding organization growth and diversification to accomplish system strategic goals. This role ensures the establishment and maintenance of sound financial practices and procedures, provides accurate reporting and interpretation of financial information. This position will lead the budget and decision support functions for including financial planning, analyses and modeling related to the organization’s monthly variance reporting and annual planning process. The SVP, Operations Finance will support the planning, analysis, and implementation of strategic financial and operational priorities. This role will support the CFO in driving quantifiable, sustainable improvement by working with stakeholders across the system to identify ways to continuously drive financial improvement and transformational change.Job DescriptionMinimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business or related field.

Ten (10) years as financial leader and executive.

For-profit experience in the healthcare industry.

Experience in managing multiple functions in a Finance organization.

Experience managing leaders and various teams.

Experience in managing budgeting process and rolling forecast process.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Serves as key finance business partner for Tufts Medicine and its affiliates in overseeing the preparation and administration of monthly operating reviews at the entity level.

Leads annual operating, rolling forecast, and capital budgets, regular financial reports and presentations to the system executives on month-end performance, budget status, projections, and strategic planning.

Creates an efficient and timely financial operational review process. Coordinate with CFO and COO monthly operating reviews (MORs) for entity and shared services departments.

Conducts financial assessments to anticipate challenges and identify opportunities for financial improvement via service-line growth, revenue cycle improvements, and expense reduction initiatives. Performs assessments, analytical research and support including, but not limited to: root-cause analyses, cost/benefit analyses, and financial projection for departments

Oversees and performs quantitative analyses to inform decision-making and monitor progress against goals.

Designs and implements effective budgeting policies and procedures.

Develops and maintains the system’s quarterly rolling forecast and annual operating plan.

Develops and maintains system level service line report across the system.

Assists in enforcing accountability for the rolling forecast and plan results. Produces monthly actual to plan reporting and assist in obtaining explanations for variances.

10.Reviews, assesses and enhances existing reporting processes to ensure strategic insights.

Conducts meetings with departmental finance officers as needed to review financial results, FTEs, volume trends, and discuss productivity issues/concerns.

Responds to ad hoc financial analyses, special projects, and other similar or related duties as required or directed.

Understands and has the ability to relate current and future year business and operational decisions and their financial impact.

Analyzes operations to evaluate performance of the team in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy changes.

Ensures that all departments meet service level agreements, quality standards, and performance goals based on the development and monitoring of cost and process metrics.

Develops, leads and manages a diverse team ensuring that succession and development plans are in place to achieve the company’s goals.

Partners to ensure regulatory compliance for all areas of responsibility.

Physical Requirements:

Professional office environment with typical office requirements such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, etc.

This is largely a sedentary role, which involves sitting most of the time, but may involve movements such as walking, standing, reaching, ascending / descending stairs and operate office equipment.

Ability to see and read computers displays, read fine print, and/or normal type size print and distinguish letters, numbers and symbols.

Knowledge of financial analyses and decision support systems as well as statistical and analytic software modes.

High level of analytic and quantitative skills (data evaluation).

Ability to make decisions with significant, broad implications for the management and operations of a major department or multiple departments. Participates in decisions on overall strategy and direction of the organization.

Proven problem-solving skills to implement solutions for varied, complex and time sensitive issues.

Demonstrated ability to set direction and vision for major departments or multiple departments. Establishes priorities, develops policies and allocates resources.

Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information with key concepts that is adapted for the audience.
