Our best talent comes from within!Aerospace's Software Engineering Subdivision plays a key role in helping our customer realize and transition industry-leading solutions by delivering software development prototypes, cloud-based solutions, and methodologies for our Civilian, DoD, and Intelligence community partners.We are seeking an Associate Director for the Software Implementation and Integration Department who will work directly with our internal and external customers to integrate diverse Aerospace knowledge and leverage the latest technologies to address their toughest challenges. The Associate Director will lead and manage an impactful team of software developers proficient in all areas related to software development.This position is a hybrid work model and can sit partially remotely, with some onsite work in either Chantilly, VA or El Segundo, CA.What You'll Be Doing- Assist the Director and managers with management of the department and seek and identify new opportunities for the department
- Serve as a senior advisor to the leadership team
- Execution of task plans, development of staff in their career progression, mentoring, hiring, and collaborate with leadership and immediate management chain
- Addressing workforce needs, personnel development, and performance evaluations
- Engaging in matrix support planning to ensure skills are available to meet customer needs
- Builds reciprocal working relationships with diverse associates across Aerospace and with customers
- Ability to understand the drivers of change and actively contributes to its acceptance at the local/team level.
- Be able to identify roadblocks and modify existing approaches to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness.
- BS degree in engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or related technical field.
- 12 or more years of progressively responsible experience
- Strong experience in project management
- Experience in software development and experience as a technical lead
- Ability to form and lead technical analysis teams and projects
- Familiarity with National Security Space systems, Department of Defense, civil, commercial space systems or advanced space technologies
- Proven ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external customers
- Track record demonstrating the ability to build an environment of teamwork and develop/grow an organization by providing consistent mentoring, coaching, and training opportunities
- Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for interactions at all organizational levels
- Current and active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field from a recognized institution
- Familiarity in multiple areas associated with National Security Space systems, Department of Defense, civil, commercial space systems, and advanced space technologies
- Familiarity with satellite ground systems, operations, and launch
- Familiarity with the software development methodologies and cloud frameworks at the enterprise level
- Experience with and understanding of Aerospace and customer business processes
- Experience working with the Aerospace Engineering matrix
