Description Robert Half is hiring for a logistics coordinator to support a family-owned business in the Richmond area. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team. This contract-permanent role starts next week!As a Logistics Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of logistics operations to ensure efficient and timely delivery of goods and services. You will work closely with suppliers, transportation companies, and internal teams to streamline processes, minimize costs, and optimize resource utilization. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Responsibilities:

Coordinate and manage logistics operations including transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.

Liaise with suppliers, vendors, and carriers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.

Develop and maintain relationships with transportation providers to negotiate favorable terms and rates.

Track shipments, monitor delivery schedules, and address any delays or issues that arise.

Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock availability while minimizing excess inventory.

Prepare and maintain documentation such as shipping records, bills of lading, and customs paperwork.

Monitor and analyze logistics performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with internal teams including procurement, sales, and customer service to coordinate logistics activities.

Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies related to logistics operations.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.

Proven experience in logistics coordination, preferably in a manufacturing, distribution, or retail environment.

Strong understanding of logistics processes, transportation modes, and supply chain management principles.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

Proficiency in logistics software and systems for tracking shipments and managing inventory (e.g., ERP systems, TMS).

Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and record-keeping.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to logistics operations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP).

Experience with international logistics and import/export regulations.

Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing projects from conception to completion.
