Job Title: Forklift Operator/Back-Up Yard Spotter - Immediate Hire

Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and safety-minded Forklift Operator/Back-up Yard Spotter for immediate hire in Martinsville, VA. This role primarily works as a forklift operator inside the warehouse and steps into the yard spotter position as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong experience operating yard trucks, forklifts, and other power equipment, while maintaining a focus on safety and efficiency.
This position requires working in all weather conditions and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely move loaded and empty trailers to and from docks and yard areas as scheduled.
Operate sit-down forklifts to unload inbound shipments, move products to storage, and prepare outbound shipments.
Perform pre-trip inspections and complete reports before operating yard vehicles.
Follow all yard safety protocols, including dock locks, chocks, and speed regulations.
Load, unload, stack, stage, and transport products efficiently within the warehouse and yard.
Use RF equipment for picking, receiving, put-away, and loading functions.
Ensure that all inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
Maintain a clean and organized work area while supporting overall warehouse safety and security.
Perform additional duties assigned by supervisors.
Key Requirements:
Must have 2 years of spotter, yard jockey, or similar experience; Forklift certification required.
Ability to sit on a powered industrial truck for extended periods. Follow instructions and keep complete and legible records.
A high degree of attention is required to prevent injury to others.
Ability to position the body to drive backward for extended periods. Ability to judge distances and heights. Have a good sense of balance.
Ability to lift and maneuver 50 lbs. if necessary.
Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending on the season.
Schedule and Pay:
Wednesday - Sundays, 7am - until job is completed
Primarily warehouse forklift work - $20 per hour.
Yard Spotter duties as needed - $25 per hour
