This main function of this position will be to perform highly complex verifications, with minimal supervision or work leader oversight. Candidates in this role will be responsible for either the correct installation of equipment in substations and transmission lines, or related system protection areas of Electric Transmission.The successful candidate will evaluate equipment for proper installation. Inspect advanced in-service and out-of-service equipment. Assignments will be based on elaborate complexity. Provide technical oversight for simultaneous project closeouts, pre-energization. Document field equipment ratings, correct and update field copies of documentation, and provide them to Electric Transmission Quality Assurance Engineering to resolve/discuss issues and discrepancies discovered during construction and work activities. Collaborate with project and field teams to address highly complex issues identified. Coordinate multiple corrective activities simultaneously regarding complex issues discovered. Assist the field with the development of corrective action plans as needed. Provide guidance and technical oversight to Field Inspectors in addition to other on-site groups, ensuring all field equipment is installed in accordance with engineering designs. Performance of these activities require knowledge of transmission construction and material standards and ensure equipment is installed in accordance with Dominion Energy engineering design.Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience 4-6 years of directly related experience Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications. Point of authority and/or subject matter expert. May function as a lead that indirectly oversees the work of others. Exercises independent judgement while applying substantial knowledge and technical skills of electric transmissions and substation construction or System Protection to perform advanced, multi-faceted activities. Substantial knowledge of construction, operations, and maintenance of transmission lines and substations; or substantial knowledge of maintenance of control circuits, protective relay applications and substation equipment. SCADA data communication equipment interfaces necessary to provide Operating Centers with critical station telemetry; Protocols using mediums such as Serial, TCP/IP and/or Fiber Optics. Comprehensive understanding of OSHA safety standards. Understanding of the BES Bulk electric System. Excellent written and verbal communication; Proven ability in Project Management & Coordination. Work under tight deadlines and pressure situations; adapt to changing conditions and demands. Ability to read and comprehend technical specifications. Plan and organize highly complex substation construction projects or test highly complex protective relays, remote terminal units, power line carrier and metering applications; assist technicians in major control installations. Skilled in offering technical direction and guidance to team and field members. Assess elaborate problems and make well-informed decisions; demonstrate advanced analytical and conceptual thinking. Physical attributes required to perform essential functions of the job: lifting to include carrying heavy test equipment, walking, climbing, stooping, bending, prolonged standing and manual dexterity. This position will require that you operate a Dominion Energy vehicle or operate a vehicle on behalf of Dominion Energy. Due to equipment weight limits, individuals in this role have a weight restriction of 290 pounds.Education Requirements
