Job Description: The Manager, Electrical Engineering is responsible for leading a team of Electrical Engineers and supports planning, research & development, and execution of all engineering development tasking on projects, pursuits, and programs. Responsible for functional requirements of staffing (manpower/resource planning), recruiting, training, talent development, engagement, and retention of employees. Proactively collaborates with functional and business leadership teams to support business and program requirements and demands. In this role the selected candidate will communicate with parties within and outside of the organization which includes customers or vendors. Requires ability to communicate with leadership regarding matters of importance to the function or business area. May conduct briefings with senior leaders. Requires technical and leadership knowledge in the design and development of sonar acoustics and other underwater communications capabilities for DoD applications. Essential Functions:

Leads Electrical Engineering development efforts, managing technical scope, and delivering to technical, cost, and schedule objectives.

Provide technical direction and oversight to individuals on the engineering team and to program teams, insuring high standards of technical competence and achievement.

Oversee design and development of active and passive sonar systems, tasking to include digital signal processing (DSP) architecture design; sonar performance predictions and improvements; beamforming and sonar signal conditioning.

Responsible for providing input to program bids and generating bases of estimate.

Manage and direct the day-to-day activities of the Electrical Engineering team and make individual work assignments.

Monitor individual performance and prepare formal performance assessments.

Prepare and deliver technical presentations to management and customers.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of acoustics and sonar systems.

Proficient in EVMS, Control Account Management and design team leadership.

B.S. in Electrical/Software/Computer Engineering or comparable discipline with a minimum 9 years of prior relevant technical experience; or Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, in lieu of a degree, minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Minimum 4 years of experience in supervising, leading, and developing engineering personnel.

Current DOD Secret level clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Experience working with DARPA or US Navy or ONR highly desired.

Advanced understanding of underwater acoustics / signal processing theory and techniques required.

Experience in DSP architecture design and sonar acoustics.

Experience with advanced signal processing concepts.

Professional Knowledge: Advanced level of technical engineering skill/knowledge and the ability to keep up with current developments and trends in areas of expertise.

Leadership: Demonstrated skills and abilities needed to coordinate, facilitate, and participate in a collaborative approach to the completion of tasks or assignments.

Proven capability to solve technical problems while meeting the need of the customer.

Experience working in a matrix environment; getting things done through others.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Works well with management, peers, and direct reports

Proficient in technical writing to include specifications, technical proposals and white papers, design reviews and technical presentations.
