Position Summary

EastWest Food Rescue (EWFR) is a non-profit organization founded during the COVID-19 pandemic to address the dual issues of food waste and food insecurity. EWFR acquires and purchases surplus food, predominantly from farmers, and distributes it to people in need. The organization identifies sources of nutritious surplus food and gets it to people who are food insecure. We support the farming community and work towards sustainable solutions for the food system. More information can be found at www.eastwestfoodrescue.org.

EWFR is looking for a Program Manager who is enthusiastic about supporting our dynamic organization. This position will ensure that programmatic work will be in alignment with EWFR's mission and values. TheProgram Manager will work closely with the Sr. Manager of Development and Compliance and Executive Director to build and maintain the framework that supports the organization through its next stage of growth. We are a small but mighty team, and this position will have the opportunity to provide cross-functional support throughout the organization. The position may require some evening and/or weekend work. Overnight travel may occasionally be necessary.

To be a good fit for this role, you will be deeply aligned with EWFR's mission. You must also be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with diverse teams. If you have experience as a produce buyer, farm relations and/or an interest in advocacy, we’d like to meet you.

Responsibilities

Manage the acquisition of fresh food, paid and donated

Cultivate relationships with farmers and build a portfolio of agricultural partners

Occasionally represent EWFR at agricultural events

Provide weekly reports on the movement of food

Build relationships with food distribution partners and understand the community’s need for the acquisition of culturally relevant food

Work through the lens of Justice, Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in all areas of the role

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Customer-centric approach to relationship building

Professional with a willingness to learn and improve systems

Creative problem solver

Strong project management skills and able to meet deadlines

Knowledge on produce/food industry standards, including shelf-life and quality

Understanding of food distribution logistics

Excellent time-management and organizational skills

Detail-oriented and efficient

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work with diverse cross-functional teams
