Job Description: Youth Director
Lettered Streets Covenant Church (LSCC) is an intergenerational congregation whose purpose is:
To be and make disciples of Jesus who love God, love our neighbors, and care for his creation, all in

understanding our Vocation as Mission.
LSCC is seeking a Youth Director who will (working in concert with the staff and congregation)
encourage our middle and high school students to follow Jesus in their emerging contexts as well as
part of the broader congregation in worship, service, and belonging.
JOB DUTIES:
Leadership
■ Working within the ethos of LSCC, cast vision for an approach to youth ministry that raises up
disciples of Jesus who are equipped to engage in the world and actively participate in the life
of the local church
■ Bold leadership to lean on the Spirit for direction rather than just traditional youth ministry
models
■ Take responsibility for creating and/or curating teaching content
■ Communicate youth schedule clearly and well in advance to volunteers, students, and
families
■ Recruit, train, and encourage youth volunteers
■ Oversee the youth budget with integrity and stewardship
■ Participate in annual youth ministry budget planning with the lead pastor to communicate
vision and needs for the following year
Ministry
■ Recruit, train, and encourage adult volunteers
■ Working in concert with the congregational schedule, create a regular plan for youth
gatherings, events, discipleship moments
■ Encourage involvement in ECC youth retreats and events
■ Establish meaningful personal relationships with the young people in the congregation and
community by investing in their lives, such as attending lunch at the area schools and
attending their extracurricular activities as able (ie: sporting events, concerts, school plays,
and awards ceremonies).
■ Create a culture of outreach and invitation in the ministry so that new people feel welcomed
■ Regularly pray for the youth and their families
■ Work with the church staff to incorporate the youth in the life of the church through service,
worship, and participation
■ Be an occasional presence in front of the congregation on Sundays in exercise of your role
(youth announcements, youth involvement in worship, etc.) and/or in exercise of your gifts
(preaching, music, etc.)
■ Other duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
■ Demonstrate an authentic life of living faith in Jesus
■ In agreement with the vision, values and ethics of Lettered Streets Covenant Church and the
Evangelical Covenant Church
■ Desire to be a committed partner at LSCC and participate regularly in the worship life of the
congregation
■ Commitment to relational ministry
■ Demonstrated supervision and leadership skills
■ Effective written and spoken communication skills
■ Able to work effectively and positively with youth and adults
■ Ability to recruit, train, encourage, and foster positive relationships with volunteers
■ Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
■ Experience in youth ministry highly desirable (paid or volunteer)
■ Participate in weekly staff meetings
■ Be present for major Christian holidays and significant church events
■ Pursue lifelong learning in biblical, theological, and/or youth ministry related subjects
■ Proficiency with the Mac Computers desirable
■ Valid Washington state driver’s license and completion of a background check
■ Possess or able to obtain CPR/AED and First Aid training (Training for certification will be
provided).
■ Commit to a minimum of two years
Hours: Approximately 25 hours/week
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Salary: $29,900/year
