In this role you will provide data management, analysis, and technical support pertaining to forest mensuration, timberland inventory, carbon-focused measurement techniques, and growth & yield modeling across all major timberland investment regions.Job Responsibilites

Work closely with the lead forest Biometrician to support forest inventory data collection and timber and carbon modeling.

Provide critical review and support in the development of decision-support tools used for operational inventory needs, harvest forecast planning and carbon-focused strategic planning.

Work closely with the lead Biometrician to review and analyze yield projections for use in harvest scheduling, carbon-focused strategic planning, and operational decision making.

Participate in and support the development of carbon project feasibility assessments, project design and modeling, and verification.

Support Company efforts to ensure continuous improvement of our inventory systems and measurements, such as cutout analyses and cruise-to-recruise analysis.

Provide leadership and support in the development of remotely sensed inventory models.

Support the Company's acquisition initiatives by providing direction related to inventory verification design, growth & yield modeling, and decision support across multiple timberland investment regions.

Represent Company in silviculture, tree-improvement, modeling, and other research coops, partnering with operations staff to facilitate technology transfer of knowledge related to ongoing research.

Support annual carbon accounting analysis, process development and continuous improvement.

Review and communicate research results for financial analysis and implementation to realize returns from investment in research.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

MS degree in forestry with a strong concentration in Forest Biometrics or statistics

Minimum of three years forest biometrics experience.

Must have good research and analytical skills.

Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written as well as demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment across multiple disciplines and across multiple locations.

Must have a working knowledge of the forest growth modeling techniques and a variety of tools currently used throughout the industry.

Experience with the application of remote sensing in forest inventory systems.

Knowledge and aptitude in a structured programming language such as R (preferred), Python, Julia, C, etc.

Experience using relational databases, e.g., SQL, to write/ design queries, analyze data, and create reports.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

Demonstrated background in carbon-focused measurements and accounting methods is strongly preferred.
