Searching out and developing outreach and customer opportunities and furnishing leads and reports. Position is external to the organization with extensive travel required.Responsibilities include:

Establishes long-term professional relationships with primarily existing, but also potentially new, members and vendors (government or relevant associations and industries) to promote the organization’s products and services.

Grows, expands and enhances existing vendor accounts, strengthens relationships and builds industry knowledge to both ensure that existing vendors are satisfied and willing to continue the relationship and entice them to expand the use of existing contracts to ensure preferred partner relationship is established and/or maintained.

Provides on-going support to vendors ensuring they receive high quality customer service with consultative solutions and opportunities to better use existing contracts. Creates lasting partnerships and co-branding opportunities.

Develops mutually beneficial partnerships and builds alliances that lead to increased knowledge of trends and direction of both vendors’ business and their respective industries. Develops full knowledge and awareness of vendors’ business practices that impact their contract activity reporting.

Sells value proposition and its role in helping the vendor succeed in the partnership. Creates selling environment where offering expert advice is valued, and where the vendor’s business is the focal point of all discussion efforts.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Business or related field required.

3 years strategic sales experience in business-to-business sales environment.

Must have a proven track record of developing new business and expanding existing business.

Shows deep understanding of the business and industry.

Displays political savvy and an ability to build mutually beneficial relationships quickly.

Proven ability to build and execute strategic account plans.

Self-starter, highly organized with effective time management skills and the ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.

Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong customer service skills.

Strong negotiation, networking, communication and persuasion skills in one on one, small group and large group presentation settings.

Excellent writing skills. Ability to write effective proposals.

PREFERRED:

5 years strategic sales experience preferred.

5 years in government, fire/rescue, law enforcement or experience selling to these markets.

Work involving government procurement and cooperative procurement process is highly valued.
