We are looking for positive and upbeat team leader to join us at Parkland El Toro Mexican Restaurant & Cantina as Assistant Manager!

Summary of Position

The Assistant Manager will oversee and manage the daily operations of the restaurant in the absence of the General Manager. The AM will assist the GM with any and all of these tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Hires and trains restaurant staff.

Organizes and oversees the staff schedules.

Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with restaurant policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Oversees food preparation, ensuring compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.

Ensures customer satisfaction with all aspects of the restaurant and dining experience.

Handles guest and staff grievances by resolving them in a diplomatic and courteous manner.

Ensures compliance with alcoholic beverage regulations.

Estimates food and beverage costs.

Collaborates with chef to manage inventory and purchases food and supplies.

Manages liquor, beer, and wine inventory and purchases.

Conducts daily inspection of restaurant and equipment to ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.

Periodically evaluates restaurant equipment for repairs and maintenance; schedules for service.

Maintains sales records, tracks cash receipts, and is responsible for balancing daily and bank deposits.

Manages Daily pulltab play in accordance with rules set forth by the Washington State Gambling Commission, Tab Wizard POS, and El Toro Mexican Restaurant & Cantina Policies.

Prepares and submits operations reports and other documentation requested by Ownership.

Fills in for different shifts in other job positions as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

Exceptional communication skills. Spanish and English fluency is preferred, but is not a requirement.

Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on guest service.

Excellent time management skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

A willingness to learn and teach.

We prefer candidates with Bartending, Serving, or Kitchen background.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Must have valid Pierce County Food Handlers and WSLCB Class 12 permit.

Must complete ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to traverse all parts of the restaurant quickly.

Ability to spend long hours on your feet walking the floor and kitchen.

Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.

Can work part-time as assistant manager and add additional shifts as server or bartender.
