Abolitionist Ale Works is a fast growing brewery, pub and restaurant located in the heart of Downtown Charles Town.

We are looking for an experienced dedicated, responsible, detail oriented, energetic new team members for weekday and weekend shifts. To apply for any of the roles below please send your resume to us via email or bring by our location during normal business hours.

Cook

The right candidate must be able to prepare, cook and get pizzas ready for servers in a sometimes very fast paced, high volume environment with many tickets coming in a short time. We also have a short appetizer menu.

Previous kitchen experience is preferred & health code and standard food safety procedure knowledge is required. Serv Safe Certification is Preferred

Our pizza menu is an artisan one, cooked fast over high heat with unique ingredients and combinations.

The pizza cook will also be responsible for managing the kitchen, particularly in regards to keeping it clean at all times to health code specifications, managing prep and taking inventory. We also look to the chef for ideas on special pizzas for our menu

Hourly rate is negotiable based on experience and availability to work.

Host

We are looking to hire a host. A host will greet customers at the door, assign them a server and direct them to their table with menus. The host will act as the point person for the dining space, making sure that tables are seated properly and efficiently and that the servers are being kept in the loop on new customers being sat.

Host shifts are every Friday from 4PM-10PM and every Saturday from 1PM-9PM. Hosts shifts are also available for our special events which frequently happen such as the 1st Wednesday of every month, and the first Thursday of every month and some Sundays.

Ideal candidate is someone with a flexible schedule who can definitely work every weekend.

Compensation is $10 per hour

Shift Supervisor / Manager

We are looking for an experienced, focused, driven individual to manage our day to day operations of the business both back and front of house and maintain our high level of professionalism and customer service on the floor.

The manager will

Work with staff, delegating necessary duties for an efficient workplace. The manager will eventually schedule staff and facilitate call ins, staff cuts, interviewing, hiring, training. Most importantly knowing how to work with a group of different personalities and being able to communicate with each in a unique way that motivates them and makes them feel appreciated.

Be fully trained in all job roles and be able to fill those roles when necessary

Train and be fully proficient in our point of sale system, handle tech support calls as necessary

Train on common troubleshooting to be able to solve predictable and sometimes unpredictable problems, maintenance etc that arise day to day in a restaurant/bar

Meet directly with ownership on developing programs, events, promotions, procedures and/or systems and having a direct role in implementing those ideas and making them work in real life.

Working to promote the business and grow sales, customer retention, customer development

Be constantly visible on the floor, interacting with customers, getting feedback and making sure that everyone is having the ultimate experience and that customers are aware of our events etc.

Be an ambassador for our brand and take ownership for your team

Our ideal manager is not an authoritative figure but also not a pushover. Someone who can empathize, listen and most importantly communicate and motivate while blocking out the noise and excuses. Our ideal manager is someone who is respected and someone who people enjoy working for. Someone who walks the walk

Be reliable, not calling out of work unless it is necessary, being on time to work and setting a good example to their team members. We are hiring you because we need you to be successful!

Requirements -

An applicant must have 2 years of management experience in the hospitality field, preferably bar, brewery, restaurant business. Sales management or direct sales experience also preferred.

Compensation

Our ideal candidate will start off with thorough training on all positions here including working those shifts before managing them. Once trained, shift leads start off at $15 an hour and after training and successful introductory period, the right candidate will be offered a salaried position.
