Description Support the CFO in planning and managing the College’s cyclical financial activities and systems in accordance with state and federal regulations, operational policies and procedures, accepted accounting practices and principles, and good business practices to meet the College’s goals and objectives. Serve as a resource for all departments/divisions with respect to financial and budgetary activities.Key responsibilities: Oversee day-to-day operations of the financial accounting department, reviewing accounting transactions, and conducting intermittent analysis to detect and correct errors. Direct the financial accounting services department through management of staff, providing day-to-day supervision, training, evaluating, and developing. Assist in the preparation of the budget and long-range plans, as well as procedures for debt issuance, payments, and reporting. Implement and maintain internal college policies and procedures to ensure proper internal controls, security, and compliance while optimizing workflow and efficiencies. Plan and coordinate the preparation of monthly and annual required financial statements and reports, indirect cost rates, and other financial/cost analysis. Represent the college on local, state, and national committees, task forces, and professional organizations. Extract and analyze data using College supporting technology, including report writing tools and spreadsheets. Maintain current professional and technical knowledge in the field through professional education and activities.Requirements Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the education industry Proficiency in accounting functions and principles Proficient in handling Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Experience in auditing and budget processes in educational institutions Knowledge of government grants related to the education sector Strong communication skills to effectively liaise with various departments Ability to execute month-end close processes accurately and timely Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and presentation Experience in Fixed Asset Accounting Familiarity with the trade education sector would be advantageous.
