Staff Accountant

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Alabaster, Alabama. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of accounting tasks, including reconciliations, financial reporting, and providing HR support such as onboarding and terminations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and excellent proficiency in software such as Sage 100 and Microsoft Excel.Responsibilities: Conduct monthly bank reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting Create and maintain accurate financial reports for management review Provide HR support including managing onboarding and termination processes Handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) duties to ensure financial accuracy Assist with general ledger maintenance and journal entries Ensure timely month-end close processes Utilize Sage 100 and Microsoft Excel to manage and analyze financial data Support other accounting tasks and projects as needed. Requirements Proven experience in the role of Staff Accountant or a similar role. Proficiency in using Sage 100 accounting software. Extensive knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR). Proficiency in conducting Bank Reconciliations. Solid understanding of the General Ledger. Experience in preparing Journal Entries. Familiarity with the Month End Close process. Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred. Excellent analytical and numerical skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively. Strong ethical standards and high levels of integrity. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to accounting and taxation. Ability to handle confidential information.
