Digital Media Expert – Under the supervision of the Campus Director, The Digital Media Expert will be responsible for the development, creation, and publication of various media-based content for Knik Tribe’s STEAM Academy and various Knik Tribe departments. Additionally, this individual will work with a team to provide web development and social media management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will:

Perform duties as part of a team related to the media production process including but not limited to:

Pre-production planning: Script writing, storyboarding

Production: Directing, filming, operating camera and audio equipment

Post-production: Editing videos to meet quality standards

Develop and support instructors in the creation of lab-focused STEAM based videos.

Provide instruction on video, audio, and photo-related software and equipment to participants, staff, interns, and volunteers.

Assist in the design and development of Knik Tribe’s website.

Perform routine updates to website content.

Serve as a point-of-contact between all departments for web-related updates.

Create and share social media content.

Become familiar with operating various equipment at the STEAM Academy:

CNC Machinery

Laser Engraving

3D Printing

Produce video instructional materials for STEAM Academy projects.

Assist in organizing cultural and STEAM-related school break camps.

Submit data and reports to program supervisors on time.

Supervise participant safety during activities.

Support STEAM Academy programs as needed.

Participate in recruiting potential participants for the STEAM Academy through tours, community contacts, and outreach opportunities.

Maintain confidentiality according to regulations, policies and procedures.

Perform all other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications:

Advanced computer skills, experience instructing computer hardware and software technology, proficiency with common programming languages (HTML, CCS, Pythone, etc.), website development, managing databases, spreadsheets, word processing and other programs.

Excellent interpersonal skills combined with demonstrated ability to build relationships, provide leadership, and work collaboratively with diverse people and organizations.

Ability to work independently and interdependent in a positive and productive manner.

Exceptional time management, organization, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement and make sound decisions about complex issues that reflect Knik Tribe mission and values.

Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, parents, participants, funders, and the general public.

Advanced computer skills, in computer hardware and software technology instruction, including experience with databases, spreadsheets, word processing and publishing programs.

Demonstrated ability to organize multiple activities and prioritize workload.

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of social, educational, training and cultural needs of and resources for the Alaska Native/American Indian community.

Demonstrated ability to handle crisis situations and make sound judgments.

Maintain confidentiality.

Required Requirements:

Associates degree or equivalent work experience in audio-video technology and content creation.

Minimum two (2) years’ experience working with Alaska Native/American Indian youth.

Proficiency in video, photo, and/or audio equipment, Canon preferred.

Experience using media creation and editing software (i.e., Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).

Experience in web development and maintaining websites, WIX preferred.

Preferred experience with STEAM Academy Technologies.

Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Clean state and federal background check.

General Information:

Location: 758 N Shoreline Drive, Wasilla, AK 99654

Supervisor: MTLC Director

Schedule: Monday – Friday; 8:00 am – 5:00pm

Salary: $25.00 – $29.00 per hour DOE/E. Plus full benefits: Federal Employee Health Benefits (FEHB) medical, dental, vision, life insurance, paid leave and holidays, and retirement plan with matching contributions.
