Heavy Equipment MechanicShemya Island, Alaska, USA Req #300Friday, December 6, 2024ASRC Federal Communications is seeking a Heavy Equipment Mechanic for our ISS2 contract supporting our Air Force customer The Heavy Equipment Mechanic works with a wide variety of heavy, medium, and equipment and vehicles to support the Company's operations at Eareckson Air Force Base.Essential Functions
Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to diagnose malfunctions.
Evaluate the extent of all equipment repairs and the level of action required.
Communicate the repairs and level of action required to the Equipment Manager.
Inspect and repair heavy construction vehicles and other equipment such as crawler cranes, skid steers, excavators, drills, dozers, hammers, backhoes, loaders, tractors, and other heavy equipment.
Adjust, repair, or overhaul engines and various components of engines.
Operate hoists, lifts, overhead cranes, hand tools, and various other instruments to safely and effectively perform work.
Perform routine welding and fabrication work on heavy equipment.
Maintain accurate service logs and records of maintenance, utilizing paper files and electronic maintenance software, and timely submit all necessary paperwork to Equipment Manager and Accounting.
Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
Work closely with other trades.
Perform shared cooking and cleaning responsibilities.
Report incidents, situations, or activities that may affect the company's ability to operate safely, ethically, and profitably to the Company Safety Manager.
Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and processes.
Knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance and repair.
Working knowledge of manuals, schematics, and diagnostics tools used for equipment and vehicle maintenance and repair.
Skill in operating a computer, utilizing a variety of applicable software programs.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Four (4) years experience in heavy equipment repair and maintenance.
Ability to speak, write, and read English
Ability to pass National Agency Check with Inquiries background investigation
Preferred
Prior welding experience
Secondary education or vocational/technical training in Heavy Equipment
