Job Summary:
Supervised by the Program Manager for Mental Health within the Prevention and Intervention Department, the Holistic Wellness Coach (HWC) I/II is a state-certified profession established by California’s Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) as part of the Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative. The role of the HWC I/II will be to offer core prevention and intervention services that promote behavioral health and well-being in a supportive role with K-12 students, families and staff as part of the Humboldt County Office of Education (HCOE) team. This is a classified 10 month position.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Holistic Wellness Coach I with 2 pathways to qualify:
Education Pathway: Associate’s Degree from an accredited California Community College in relevant fields within the last 6 years, such as social work, human services, addiction studies, psychology, sociology, child development and/or mental health plus 400 hours field experience (application accepted w/150 hours). Experience must be providing direct pre-clinical behavioral health services to clients in school-linked/school-based organizations, non-profits, community organizations, and/or health centers/clinics within the last six years. Any hours not completed during the degree program can be completed post-graduation via relevant internship, volunteer, or work experience.
Workforce Pathway: Any Associate's Degree from any accredited college in the United States, plus 1,350 experience hours. Experience must be providing direct pre-clinical behavioral health services to children and youth through age 25 in school-linked/school-based organizations, non-profits, community organizations, and/or health centers/clinics within the last six years.
Holistic Wellness Coach II with 2 pathways to qualify:
Education Pathway: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited California college or university within the last 6 years in relevant fields, such as social work, human services, addiction studies, psychology, sociology, child development and/or mental health. 800 hours of field experience (application accepted with 300 hours). Experience must be providing direct pre-clinical behavioral health services to clients in school-linked/school-based organizations, non-profits, community organizations, and/or health centers/clinics within the last six years. Any hours not completed during the degree program can be completed post-graduation via relevant internship, volunteer, or work experience.
Workforce Pathway: Bachelor's Degree from any accredited college or university in the U.S. 2,700 hours of related experience. Experience must be providing direct pre-clinical behavioral health services to children and youth through age 25 in school-linked/school-based organizations, non-profits, community organizations, and/or health centers/clinics within the last six years.
Preferred Experience for both levels I and II:
Enough field hours completed to become registered as a Wellness Coach I/II, as per state requirements (and willingness to register).
