I'm a Sole Practitioner in Moreno Valley. I'm looking for an Attorney to handle some overflow work on a contract basis. I will remain attorney of record, I will review what you do, but I need to be able to rely on it, you will just be asked to sign off on whatever you work on.
Most of the overflow is going to be generic civil litigation:
1. Landlord being frivolously being sued by a loon.
2. Home Improvement Contractor stuff (both sides)
3. Real Estate non-disclosure of known defects in a Residential Real Estate Cases.
4. Real Estate Partition cases
5. Breach of Contract
6. Wrongful Retaliatory Eviction.
7. Defamation Torts
8 Debt Collection Defense
9. Low level investment fraud, consumer fraud, conversion, embezzlement etc.
10. Neighbor Disputes
Lots of Low-Rent, Bread and butter stuff, but the Clients need it done. Most Cases are filed and litigated in either Riverside County Courts, Riverside Division and Southwest Justice Center. Though I have cases in LA & OC. And if had someone reliable I would be more aggressive in taking on new files.
No experience needed, but pay isn't going to be that impressive. The clients are generally middle class, and I'm trying to get them the most bang for the buck. Tell me what you think you should get paid, understanding, that I have to charge the Clients a multiple of that.
You will be expected to track time honestly to a level of accuracy and specificity needed to support a motion for attorney's fees in front of a Judge. Or to justify fees in front of a Fee Arbitrator. Know how to use basic legal tech, or be prepared to learn real fast. Beyond that, its a remote gig, with most of our meetings being over zoom, and the occasional meeting in person in Moreno Valley. Work is independent contractor 1099, but as long as the projects get done timely, and by Court deadlines do it where it fits in your schedule. Finish whatever project you take and start, reject what you don't want to do, or can't do because of other time commitments.
Send a cover letter & resume digitally, lets talk, and if we click I will ask for a Writing Sample. Don't call, just give me the info I need to decide if I want to talk to you.
