Description Our client is a well-established, rapidly growing construction company with a reputation for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. Their team is committed to excellence, innovation, and integrity at every stage of the construction process. They are seeking an experienced Buyer on a temp-to-hire basis to handle the procurement of materials, equipment, and services vital to our ongoing projects.Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Sourcing:
Identify and evaluate reliable vendors and suppliers for construction materials, tools, and equipment.
Obtain and compare bids, negotiate pricing and terms, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
Purchase Order Management:
Issue and manage purchase orders (POs) in accordance with project timelines and budgets.
Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to forecast and track material requirements.
Vendor & Supplier Relations:
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and resolve any order discrepancies or quality issues.
Monitor vendor performance and negotiate contracts or agreements as needed.
Inventory & Cost Control:
Track material usage and inventory levels to support just-in-time procurement strategies.
Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategic initiatives to optimize spending.
Documentation & Compliance:
Ensure all procurement documentation is accurately maintained and properly filed.
Remain up to date on industry regulations, company policies, and project requirements related to purchasing.
Collaboration & Process Improvement:
Partner with internal stakeholders—including project managers, estimators, and accounting—to streamline procurement workflows.
Recommend best practices or system enhancements to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
Requirements
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with procurement software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
Familiarity with construction materials, equipment, and pricing structures is highly desirable.
Soft Skills:
Excellent negotiation and communication skills to foster effective supplier relationships.
Strong organizational and time-management capabilities to handle multiple projects concurrently.
Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
