Trucking Company looking for Customer Service Representative
WFS Trucking is seeking an experienced Customer Service Representative with Port, Drayage, and Hazmat Identification Experience to join our team in Compton, CA. This position requires strong hands-on knowledge of container availability, terminal scheduling, Last Free Day (LFD) extensions, and identifying hazardous commodities on Delivery Orders.
This is a fast-paced, in-office role that plays a critical part in keeping freight moving efficiently and minimizing delays and charges.
This position will work directly under the Dispatcher, provide daily operational support, and serve as a backup to cover dispatcher duties when needed. Some weekend availability is required based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Communicate with customers regarding container status, arrivals, and deliveries
Coordinate with dispatch and drivers for port pickups and deliveries
Request and secure Last Free Day (LFD) extensions on unavailable containers
Handle appointment issues when terminals show no availability
Identify Hazmat commodities on Delivery Orders and ensure proper handling procedures
Track container movement, terminal releases, and appointment availability
Monitor and help reduce demurrage and storage charges
Enter and update shipment information accurately
Resolve issues quickly, professionally, and efficiently
Requirements
Port, drayage, or intermodal customer service experience REQUIRED
Proven experience securing Last Free Day (LFD) extensions
Experience dealing with unavailable terminal appointments
Strong knowledge of Hazmat identification on Delivery Orders
Solid understanding of port terminals, container flow, and logistics operations
Excellent communication and multitasking skills
Strong attention to detail and reliability
Dispatch experience a PLUS
Bilingual a PLUS (Spanish)
